Line 20 is a fast ferry connection between Rotterdam and Dordrecht. In Dutch, the service is called ‘Waterbus’. The line is operated with high-speed ferries by Aquabus BV.
The ferry operates daily between ca. 7:00h and 19:00h with two ships an hour. The travel time between Dordrecht and Rotterdam is about an hour. En route, the ships dock at Krimpen aan den IJssel, Ridderkerk, Alblasserdam, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, and Papendrecht.
During rush hour, there is one additional departure, as line 201.
Tourists that visit the Windmills of Kinderdijk, can use this line to ‘Ridderkerk, De Schans’ and change there to another ferry service called ‘Driehoeksveer’. That ferry brings you to Kinderdijk.
An alternative is fast ferry 202 that sails directly to Kinderdijk from Rotterdam, Erasmusbrug. But this line sails only once every 60 or 120 minutes.
Waterbus ferries are very popular among cyclists, as bringing your bicycle is free of charge. Keep in mind, that if you’re sailing with the ‘Driehoeksveer’ (to Kinderdijk) other rules apply. Here you'll have to pay a small amount and can only pay with cash.
On the ‘Waterbus’ ferries you can pay with the ‘OV-chipcard’. But conductors also sell single tickets – please note that cards are not accepted.Back to Transport
