'Blaakse Bos' (Blaakse Wood) with its cube houses is one of the highlights in Rotterdam. The yellow, cubic formed houses at the street Overblaak have different functions: in one of the larger ones there is a hostel, others serve as houses or as offices.
There is also a museum cube at the complex where you can view a Show-Cube from the inside. It's called 'Kijk-Kubus'. For a few Euro, you can see the interior and exterior up close.
In the eighties, the 'Blaakse Bos' was built by the design of architect Piet Blom (1984). He wanted to create a wood with trees. In this case, the Cube Houses are the trees and the Blaakse Wood is the wood. In another Dutch city, Helmond, there are also 18 Cube Houses (1977).
